When someone comes to me feeling this way, the first thing I do is listen. I don’t rush to conclusions or make them feel like something is wrong with them. We talk. We pray. We sit with the ancestors for a while. Often, the simple act of being heard and remembered is enough to begin restoring harmony. I might suggest a small ritual—lighting a candle, speaking to an ancestor by name, spending time in nature. Nothing dramatic. Nothing frightening. Just gentle steps back toward wholeness. I’ve seen people walk into my home carrying the weight of the world and walk out lighter, smiling, ready to live again. That’s the work. That’s the joy of it.
